We had a little bit of a late start this morning considering that we ended up getting to sleep so late. We ended up leaving the hostel around 12pm and the first thing we did was get lunch at a restaurant that was near our hostel. I ended up getting a chicken dish with eggplant and tzaki sauce and it was quite delicious. I’m going to have to add tzaki sauce to the growing list of foods I need to learn how to make when I get back to the US. After lunch we went to explore Prague, with the first destination being the Charles Bridge. The bridge was old and had beautiful stonework with statues lining the entirety of the bridge. Vendors were selling artwork and handmade jewelry all along the bridge, and more than once I was tempted to buy a photograph of the stunning views of Prague. The whole afternoon I was just in awe of the amazing architecture of the buildings and statues that tell of a time much older than I can truly comprehend. Then we walked back across the Charles Bridge and into Mala Strana, which is a quaint area of Prague with cobblestone roads and charming little shops all around. From Mala Strana we walked up the Petrin Hill to the Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. The St. Vitus Cathedral was unreal. The sheer size of the Cathedral was overwhelming, and the detailing was breathtaking. From the gothic architecture of the outside and the ceilings that reached to the heavens and stained glass windows inside, there is no picture that can do the Cathedral justice.

Once we were finished walking around the Cathedral, we decided to head back to our apartment and stop at a little grocery store to buy ingredients for dinner and breakfast. I can’t express how excited I was to make my own food for the first time in weeks. I went from making all of my meals every day to buying every meal and eating a significantly smaller amount of fruits and vegetables every day. For dinner I made us all spaghetti with sausage, of course with help from Hannah and Mira. After cleaning up dinner we decided to go back out again to a beer garden that one of our mutual friends had recommended to us from her study abroad in Prague. We didn’t get any beers, but this beer garden was in a park at the top of a hill, which once again proved to have the most spectacular view. I didn’t get any pictures from the beer garden because the trees blocked any clear images, but I promise it was amazing. We walked down from the park and figured out where we were, then walked across two bridges before deciding to go to a bar that was recommended to us in Mala Strana. At the bar we each got a beer and I got an unfiltered Pilsner, but after trying the house dark beer that Emerson got I wished that I had gotten that instead. After the beer we got on the last tram back to our apartment. As soon as we got back we all fell into our beds and set the alarms to get up early the next morning.
